From 1 October 2024, parents of the youngest children will be able to benefit from the new Active Parent programme . It consists of 3 different benefits:
Active parents at work (so-called granny's)
This is a benefit of PLN 1,500, which is due in connection with the care of a child aged between 12 and 35 months. The condition for its granting is professional activity, e.g. employment based on a contract of employment or commission. The parent's income must be at least the minimum wage, i.e. PLN 4,300.
If the parents employ a nanny and report her to the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), the state budget will finance contributions to pension, disability and other insurance. The nanny can be a family member, for example a grandmother or an aunt.
Note: The Active Parent at Workbenefit is not available if the child attends a crèche, kindergarten, children's club or is under the care of a day care provider.
Active in the nursery
The subsidy is linked to the attendance of a child aged between 12 and 35 months at a crèche, children's club or the employment of a day-care provider. The Active Nursery Benefit , as a rule, is available until the end of the school year in which the child turns 3. If the child cannot attend nursery school - up to 4 years.
Unlike the Active Parents at Work programme, the amount in this case depends on the nursery fee and is limited by an upper limit of PLN 1,500. This means that if the cost of nursery care is higher, the parent will have to pay the difference.
Note: This benefit is not paid to the child's parent, but is transferred to the nursery or other entity.
Active at home
It is a benefit of PLN 500 per month for each child aged 12 to 35 months. It will be due if the parents do not take advantage of the other benefits under the programme. The amount can be received for a maximum of 24 months.
In the case of the Active Parents at Work and Active in the Nursery benefits, the benefit will be increased to PLN 1,900 if the child has a disability certificate.
